DHCA Joins Exclusive Ranks Of Global Green & Clean Accredited Primary Health Sector Communities

The Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), the governing body of Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), has joined the exclusive ranks of global Green & Clean accredited primary health sector communities by becoming the first in the UAE’s healthcare industry to attain the USA’s United Accreditation Federation’s (UAF) integrated hospital management system certification.

The Green & Clean accreditation certifies that DHCC has processes in place for effective environmental and infection control, as well as the management of bio-medical waste. The standard is designed to encourage optimisation of resources including electricity, water, and other consumables, and to aid hospitals in delivering safe and affordable healthcare to the community.

Jamal Abdulsalam, CEO, DHCA, said “This certification underlines DHCC’s commitment to being a sustainable destination by adopting strategies to minimise and adapt to predicted negative climate change impacts. It shows we maintain the highest standards of environmental management systems  and control and manage key environmental operations including emissions, waste-handling, the use of natural resources, and energy-efficiency.”

The latest certification rounds out a quartet of accreditations now held by DHCA, including ISO14001:2015 for environmental management systems; ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety management systems and ISO 41001: 2018 for facilities management systems. All four demonstrate the authority’s dedication to the health and safety of DHCC staff and visitors and significantly boosts its community impact and drive to combat COVID 19.

DHCA’s Green & Clean Accreditation audit was carried out by Gabriel Registrar in the UAE. The firm’s Chief Admin Advisor, Faraj Khamis Rabee Saleem, congratulated the authority for its end-to-end hospital management achievement.

“Our audit covered day-to-day operations across all DHCA managed properties including maintenance, facilities improvements, technology integration and the authority’s established processes. All complied to the highest international standards and were designed to motivate its master community to provide integrity of service and consistently improve health, safety, and environment efforts. In earning the accreditation, the authority has clearly demonstrated its commitment to the safety of visitors to Dubai Healthcare City.”

DHCA believes achieving accreditation will lead to long-term cost benefits by increasing efficiency through the implementation of a process-based management approach that delivers transparency and accountability. Employee benefits inherent in the multiple certifications include safe working conditions, and greater assurance that they operate within a well-managed, legally compliant framework that facilitates employee consultation and participation.
