As part of its community service commitments, DP World, UAE Region is partnering with Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital’s volunteer programme, becoming the first UAE based organisation to do so.
Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital is the first dedicated children’s hospital set up in the UAE, created under the directive of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The move follows the “UAE Volunteers” initiative launched last year as part of the Year of Giving, by HH Sheikh Mohammed as way of promoting volunteerism as an important pillar to support society.
DP World, UAE Region will collaborate with the hospital’s Abtaal Al Jalila volunteer programme to launch a corporate volunteering concept that will help the hospital in expanding its care services but encourage other businesses to follow.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, DP World, said: “The collaboration reaffirms our commitment to serving our community and Emirati culture through values such as loyalty, care, and dedication. It’s these qualities that enable our country build a sustainable future for future generations and they form part of our own culture.
“Volunteer work gives back to a society that has given so much to us. We are proud to be able to support Al Jalila’s children and management and we believe our efforts will encourage more to join in and help expand the hospital’s volunteer base, both as individuals and as companies.”
From his side, Dr. Mohamed Al Awadhi, COO at Al Jalila Children’s, said: “we are very pleased to have DP world inaugurate the corporate volunteering platform of our “Abtaal Al Jalila” program. We view this partnership as an exemplary module of the cooperation between the private sector and health sector entities”.
“we at Al Jalila Children’s strongly believe that the best course of treatment for our children has to be based on two main pillars. The first would be by providing the best paediatric health care standards through the provision of cutting edge medical technology combined with world class physicians, and the second equally important pillar is to raise the morale of the patients and their families through acts of compassion, thus spreading joy and drawing smiles on patients faces. This is exactly what our partnership with DP World aims for”.
The launch of the collaboration was marked by the handing over of a Volunteering Kit by senior DP World executives led by Mohammed Al Muallem, CEO and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, to Al Jalila Hospital’s management team.
The DP World team then took part in a day of volunteer activities, including interacting with children, helping clean waiting areas and playrooms distributing gifts and toys.
Al Jalila Children’s serves children and adolescents up to the age of eighteen and is the first and only dedicated children’s hospital in the United Arab Emirates. Inaugurated on November 1, 2016, Al Jalila Children’s is an ultramodern hospital with world-class teams of highly qualified healthcare experts that employs SMART technology and design to enhance patient care and outcomes. The hospital also aims to foster clinical innovations, astute learning and development programmes, and host cutting-edge research facilities.
