The Gulf Intervention Society (GIS) announces the fourth edition of the leading GCC annual conference that brings together leading Cardiologists and Interventionists in its mission to educate and share insight into research and quality patient care, and to successfully develop a vision of cooperation between regional and international bodies in the field of Cardiovascular Intervention.
President Fawaz Almutairi, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center National Guard Hospital, Riyadh said:’ That the Gulf Intervention Society was established in 2018 to coincide with the growth and success of Gulf interventional cardiac surgeries both regionally and globally. GIS was created with the aim of gathering insight, knowledge, and best practice to serve the public, States, and health care professionals for scientific research and societal compatibility.
The GIS Board, which forms part of the Gulf Heart Association, including President Fawaz Almutairi, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist National Guard Hospital, Riyadh, Vice President, Abdullah Shehab, Professor of Cardiology, UAE, General Secretary Mousa Akbar, Consultant interventional Cardiologist and Head of Cardiology Unit Al Sabah Hospital, Kuwait and Treasurer Khalid Bin Thani, Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology Salmaniya Medical Complex, Bahrain and twenty intervention doctors gathered from the GCC area from Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, welcomes the participation of national and regional cardiac interventionalists to recognize their responsibility towards their patients, fellow physicians and the health care sector as a whole.
Vice President, Abdullah Shehab, Professor of Cardiology, said:” The increase in interest in the GIS Conference since it’s inauguration is testament to the importance of our mission and vision. We have also seen an increase in the participation of fellow specialists and health care workers from both the Middle East and the Far East, continuing to achieve our objective to lead the Gulf and Middle East interventionist community. This year, we will see a combination of in person knowledge sharing alongside live streams from around the world, truly empowering my fellow physicians and sharing the responsibility towards our patients, each other and the health care sector as a whole”.
Since the inaugural event in 2018, the GIS Conference has seen attendance and participation increase by 70% year on year.
General Secretary Mousa Akbar, Consultant interventional Cardiologist and Head of Cardiology Unit Al Sabah Hospital, Kuwait said “In line with the GIS mission, the conference recognizes its responsibility to promote the highest possible educational levels, research tools, community interactions and ethical behavior by its members, and will feature updates on all new guidelines and recent trials in the field of cardiology Interventionamongst attendees with opportunities to network and share experiences with locally based and international experts in the field.”
Including professionals from all GCC countries the USA and Europe, the conference will include 4 live-streamed cases from King Faisal Cardiac Center National Guard, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, USA, Alqassimi Hospital, UAE, and Paris Sud University Hospital, France, along with 16 recorded live in a box recorded cases, 8 workshops with hands- and hands-off technique & more than 20 international speaker joining virtually and physically.
Treasurer Khalid Bin Thani said:” The GIS 2021 conference, supported by Dubai Tourism and the Dubai Health Authorities will take place from November 18th to 20th at Intercontinental Festival City, Dubai, and will welcome participating bodies including: ECS – Emirates Cardiac Society, JIM – Joint Interventional Meeting, SCAI – Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, SACIS- Saudi Arabia Cardiac Intervention Society and the Kuwait Cardiac Society”. GIS Society and conference are managed by ICOM as Core PCO.
