MBRU Reinforces Mission To Advance Future Of UAE Healthcare With Launch Of First Endodontic Residency Program Accredited By The Saudi Commission For Health Specialties

Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) has launched a pioneering Endodontic Residency Program at its Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine (HBMCDM) and the Dubai Dental Hospital (DDH), MBRU’s clinical affiliate and the teaching hospital for HBMCDM, providing students with valuable practical experience and access to world-class dental experts.

The three-year residency is the first in the UAE and another decisive step in MBRU’s mission to become a global hub for innovative and integrated healthcare education. The structured competency-based course is accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties(SCFHS).

Program graduates will be eligible to take SCFHS (Saudi Board) examinations and upon successful completion will be considered Tier 2 level specialists in the UAE before progressing to Tier 1 after completing the required practical experience, according to the UAE’s Professional Qualifications Requirements (PQR). Residents will receive training on a wide range of surgical and non-surgical clinical competencies through managing a broad range of complex cases.

“Highly skilled, critical thinking endodontists are essential to the future of dental care in the UAE and beyond. This innovative residency program integrates learnings from regional and international experts and incorporates substantial practical training to deliver new and collaborative ways to enhance our residents’ educational journey,” said Professor Zaid Baqain, Dean of Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine.

“Also, with the Endodontic Residency Program being the only one in the UAE to be accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties our residents can employ their skills and training in diverse healthcare environments and ensure that their expertise is relevant across the region.”

Dr. Khawla Belhoul, Director, Dubai Dental Hospital (DDH), said: “DDH is proud to help prepare the next generation of endodontic specialists and consultants through the newly launched program. Practical training and comprehensive clinical experience are crucial in our field. As Dubai’s largest dental hospital, residents will have access to our innovative clinics and will work very closely with highly experienced specialists allowing them the chance to observe from close quarters and treat patients to gain key insights on patientcare and diverse clinical scenarios which will ensure well-rounded development.”

ProfessorSulaimanAlEmran, Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education, MBRU,  said: “It is a great occasion for us to launch the first post-graduate Endodontic Residency Program in the UAE with the prestigious SCFHS accreditation. The residency program is another significant step in MBRU’s mission to shape health professionals of the future through an educational system that is globally connected and regionally relevant. This program offers students a clear pathway to obtaining the Saudi Board Certification and to becoming consultants incorporating outstanding clinical training,  comprehensive theoretical experience, and further opportunities for academic collaboration.”

Applications to the Endodontic Residency Program are now open until March 18, 2021. For further details visit – https://www.mbru.ac.ae/programs/endodontics-residency-program/
