Over 25 years Zulekha Hospital has been a pioneer in healthcare and treating multidisciplinary diseases including high-risk emergencies. The hospital hosted a cardiac conference “Touching Hearts” themed “Delivering Excellence in Cardiac Care”, with cardiology experts speaking of the latest trends in cardiology and the need for an equipped medical team to successfully manage high risk emergency situations. The hospital’s branches in Dubai and Sharjah have been seeing an increasing trend in cardiac patient visits since the last few years. The hospital cardiology team in Dubai and Sharjah saw 19836 patients in 2016, 24362 in 2017 and 27259 in 2018. The hospital has seen highest numbers from the Asian residents between the ages of 25 to 65. The increasing number of cardiovascular diseases at an early age is matter of concern. The healthcare group has subsequently scaled up their capabilities to be able to treat high risk cardiovascular diseases in UAE.
Co-Chairperson Zanubia Shams remarked, “Today our team of experts is successfully managing and treating very high risk emergency situations including those referred to us by other healthcare providers in UAE. We are privileged and feel responsible to save these lives and put our patrons at ease. We want to be able to provide the right critical care in the region in time and avoid the patient’s travel which at times increases the risk of the mortality in such cases.”
Adding additional capacities and infrastructure, Zulekha Hospital has successfully treated pediatric and adult cardiovascular diseases. The recent addition of their open heart center has helped save lives of many, including the needy, supported by the group’s community initiative, Nabd Al Khair.

Parents of recently treated Elisse aged one year and eight months, Leonard and Maylin said, “We were nervous and worried about the diagnosis and procedure for Elisse, but after counseling and clear explanations of risks and benefits of procedure, we were confident to go ahead with the procedure. We are very thankful to the medical team for taking care of our child’s defect and assuring us of her healthy life ahead.”

On the occasion Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) trainers of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services team were honored for their support to “Save Hearts”, a program educating the masses on life saving CPR skills.
